Straight Line Construction was called out to investigate (3) separate multi-unit apartment buildings at The Shores at Lakeview in Pueblo, CO. Several units showed large drywall cracks and sloping floors. The 120’ long buildings measured differential settlement of over 3.5 inches. Working with local Engineering firm Printz Engineering Services (PES), a design to install 57 helical piles on 2 of the buildings was created. Straight Line Construction installed (57) total, 2 7/8” Ram Jack helical piles with a single 8” helical plate to an average 23’ depth. Once the piles and brackets were installed, hydraulic jacks were connected to manifolds and each structure was lifted to maximum practical recovery. Straight Line Construction also used poly foam injection to recover the interior slab floors to near original elevation. The installation was completed in two phases minimizing the disruption to residents in the area with an additional phase on the 3rd building forthcoming.
