The historic Cleggs Hotel located on Fire Island settled 1.04” due to flooding conditions from dislodged drainage.
A preferred Sea Wall Repair contractor, Scobbo Foundation Services, was contracted to underpin and stabilize the structure and attempt to lift it as close to the original elevation as possible.
The equipment and materials needed for the project were barged to the site by Fire Island Marine Services. The crew had to be ferried to the site each day with the trips ranging from 25-45 minutes each way.
After excavating the crew installed over-sized 36’ long x .75” angle brackets followed by the installation of the helical piles and lifting brackets. The piles were installed to an average depth of 30 ft. The crew was successful recovering .90 of the settlement. The crew injected grout in all voids to complete the project.
