Project Purposed:
A homeowner contacted us to investigate cracks in their building structure and to repair their two-story addition. Upon geotechnical inspection, significant vertical cracks ranging from 25mm to 50mm were discovered running from the ground floor wall throughout the second floor and roof walls. Additionally, the building exhibited foundation settlement with a noticeable tilt towards one end.
To address these concerns, we recommended a combined solution of helical piles with underpinning brackets to halt further settlement and potentially jack up the addition, which would reduce the tilt and insure stability.
To address the tilt and restore the building's level plane, we proposed installing (5) strategically-placed anchor bolts. These bolts enabled a controlled pulling action to bring the existing and extended sections closer together and correct the position of the entire addition.
