Richardson Environmental Center Observation Deck is Elevated 12 Feet and Supported on Helical Piles

Project Overview
The Richardson Environmental Center is a nature preserve that is used to educate local area school children. The Community Services Division wanted a wooden observation deck that was designed to extend over the bank of the Center’s pond with an elevation of 12 feet above the bottom of the pond.
Ram Jack of Texas was contracted to install (13) helical pile deep foundations and (3) helical tiebacks to provide the support for the 12 foot elevated observation deck.
All the piles and tiebacks were installed in (2) days even with the challenges associated with installing the tiebacks at precise angles and locations.
The dense clay soils provided an excellent bearing stratum for the required light loads at an average of 18 feet.
