Pucks & Piles - Patriot Foundation Systems Teams with Earth Tech to Install (325) Helical Piles for NHL’s Florida Panthers Facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Earth Tech, an innovative geotechnical construction company, and Patriot Foundation Systems LLC, a helical supplier and manufacturer, teamed up earlier this year to install/supply (325) helical piles for a project in South Florida.
The project was for the NHL’s Florida Panthers hockey team’s practice facility located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. On April 16, 2019, the Florida Panthers organization announced they will be funding and restoring the historic War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by turning it into a new sports entertainment facility and potentially their new practice facility.
The building was designed for shallow foundations with vibro replacement to increase bearing capacity. Due to the close proximity of the existing war memorial, a portion of the selected building location had to be redesigned from shallow foundations to helical piles.
In addition to the helical piles utilized for the portion of the building in close proximity to the existing war memorial, helical piles were also installed as an uplift element for any foundation that required it; this was the main scope for this project. Earth Tech completed the job on time, and the practice facility is now stable and good to go for the ice cats!
