Installed 3960 LF of SS175 battered helical piles, and 810 LF of SS5 vertical helical piles to support spread footers for a new building with the following AB Chance products:
- SS175 / SS5 10”/12”/14” Leads
- SS175 / SS5 Extensions
- Bolted New Construction Caps
Piles were installed with a CAT 305 excavator equipped with a Digga Drive Head and AllTorque monitoring system
History: Breslin Contracting was contracted by repeat customer M2 Construction to install the required piles for a new dryer building at the Kent County Waste Treatment Plant
Challenges on the Project:
- We had to work to get through shallow dense layer of material in order to get the piles to the required embedment depth to meet the uplift requirements
- Long work days required working by the excavator lights at times
Outcome: Piles had to be installed a little deeper than expected in order to meet the 8400ftlb. Torque requirement. Even with the deeper required embedment, the project still came through on schedule
Next Phase: The Breslin pile crew was followed closely by the M2 Construction crew installing concrete and starting building construction
