Project:

Installed (93) AB Chance SS200 to RS3500.300 transition piles to an embedment of 35’ to support the  foundation for a new above ground water storage tank with the following

  • SS200 8”/10”/12” leads
  • SS5/RS3500.300 Casting transitions
  • RS3500.300 extensions
  • New construction caps

Piles were installed with a CAT 305 excavator equipped with a Digga Drive Head and AllTorque monitoring system

History:

Mid Atlantic Storage Systems, Inc was contracted to design and construct a new water storage tank on the site. Breslin Contracting was brought in to design and install the required helical piles

Challenges Included:

Access to the site was via a very steep, winding gravel road through the woods. There was no way to get the tractor trailer load of materials to the site. Breslin Contracting had to offload the material at the highway entrance to the site and bring the material up a bundle at a time using heavy equiptment.

Outcome:

Piles were installed to the required depth and torque, on time and on budget

Next Phase:

Mid Atlantic’s foundation crew will install the concretre foundation and start fabrication of the tank
