Project Overview
- We were contracted to install piles and move the house as part of a major remodel of a early 1900’s farmhouse, preserving its charm while addressing modern building codes.
- City code updates required moving the structure, as its proximity to the north and east property lines made demolition or relocation unavoidable.
- Constructed an elaborate steel frame beneath the home, enabling it to be lifted and moved using a crane.
- Raised the home off its original foundation, allowing for its safe demolition.
- Installed helical piles on the west side to form and pour a new portion of the foundation.
- Used a crane to reposition the home, moving it 3 feet south and 5 feet west, where it was temporarily supported in the new location.
- Completed excavation under the structure and installed the remaining new-construction Helical Piles.
- Once the remainder of the new foundation was poured, lowered the home onto its final location and removed the steel frame.
- Enabled the general contractor to proceed with an extensive remodel, more than doubling the original home's square footage.
