Galvanized Products for GoliathTech Franchisees
The Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) is a part of the National Research Council of Canada. It offers the construction industry a national evaluation service for innovative non-standardized materials, products, systems and services in all types of construction. CCMC will also evaluate products that are covered under the scope of recognized standards.
CCMC requires that only galvanized piles may be used for projects, unless a licensed professional engineer has examined the soil and environmental conditions and has determined that galvanized piles are not required, or an alternative corrosion prevention solution is necessary.
GoliathTech has been hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with the CMCC CSA-G164 since the company began operations in 2013. The galvanizing process is both upscale and time consuming, but certified engineers, code officials and structure owners have ultimate confidence knowing that when a GoliathTech franchisee/installer provides pricing for a project, the GoliathTech piles can be trusted as code-compliant products.
Here is a comment from one of our franchisee Guillaume Roy from New Brunswick:
“When people ask me why GoliathTech? Why I chose GoliathTech and why they should too?
My answer has always been for the quality of the product, which is exceeding the requirements of the national building code on ALL applicable article, AT THE SAME TIME, always. Helical pile foundations have been around since the early 1800’s. My only concern is that with the influx of helical pile use in the residential market has resulted in different oversights, occurring on daily basis. Most people seem to be focused on the positive factors and are overlooking the mandatory building code requirements and what is required for total compliance. I have encountered numerous helical pile installs that are simply not installed, used and inspected properly. Consequently, time and time again I am seeing projects that do not meet the building code for different reasons. Not all screw piles are the same and not all helical pile installations meet the building code or even the manufacturer's CCMC report.“
Hot-Dip Galvanizing
The use of steel piles and accessories that are hot-dip galvanized in accordance with the requirements of CAN/CSA-G164 (U.S. ASTM A123/A123M-17) with a minimum thickness of 610 g/m2 is required to comply with the building codes and the directions of the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CMCC) of the National Research Council. Hot-dip galvanization of steel piles and accessories is used to protect against corrosion, which may over time cause a risk to a building’s structure and public safety.
