Project Overview
After living in their house for 20 years, homeowners in Deltona, FL, began to notice some problems with a corner of their foundation. Cracks and gaps were visible on the home’s exterior, which indicated foundation settlement. Foundations will experience settlement issues when the soils below the house prove unable to support the weight of the structure.
The homeowners wanted to address these issues before any serious damage resulted. As they began to research potential repairs, they came across Florida Foundation Authority’s website and they were eager to contact the company for further assistance. A Florida Foundation Authority inspector evaluated the condition of the problematic area, and he then recommended one type of the company’s many reliable foundation repair solutions.
Foreman Mike McDonald and his crew then installed several Helical Piles underneath the walls. Helical Pile or Pier systems create a solid supporting base that transfers the weight of the home downwards to strong supporting soils. These systems can be used for both heavy and light loads.
After removing the soil and excavating down to the footer, sections of the footing were exposed for the installation of heavy-duty brackets. The Helical Piles were then mechanically advanced into the soil. These durable steel piles are installed to appropriate depth and capacities to prevent any future foundation settlement. Steel foundation brackets were connected to the Helical Piles and attached to the foundation’s footing. The weight of the home is then transferred through the piles to competent soil. Not only do the piles permanently stabilize the home’s foundation, but they can also be used to lift it back to level and restore property value.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this repair project has helped create a safe and stable living environment.

The foundation walls were permanently stabilized once the piles were installed. The soil also was backfilled and replaced.
