There were 9 pile types, ranging from 5.5” – 12.75” OD, with loads ranging from 10 kips to 300 kips. Helical piles are being used as a temporary foundation to support structures onsite. There were multiple contractors working onsite, creating congestion and competition for space – Helical piles provided additional advantages with the reduction in construction footprint due to the ability to install with a smaller crew and equipment. The soils were dense due to the San Pedro formation and tar content encountered.
