Helical Anchors, Inc. (HAI), www.helicalanchorsinc.com, with manufacturing and corporate offices located in Minneapolis, MN, recently supplied (40) 3.50” O.D. (88.9mm) with 0.254” wall (6.45mm) helical piles with 10”,12”,14” helix bearing plates for deep foundation piles to support a single story recreational facility by a lake in Minnesota. The piles were installed to an average depth of 60 feet due to deep layers of poorly graded and loose sandy soils. The required working loads for the piles was 60 kips. The piles were cut to elevation and new construction grade beam pile caps were installed. The project was completed in 2-3 weeks due to delays caused by the weather.
HAI has the ability to to make larger diameter helical piles up to 12.75” O.D. (323.9 mm).
“We are the only helical pile manufacturer that inertia welds their piles,” said sales manager, Ryan Dungan. “This technology originated in the oil industry, and HAI is leading the industry using this technology to manufacture our helical piles. The science of inertia welding is simple, but doing it correctly time and time again is something that requires in-depth training and rigid quality control standards. By combining our high strength steel with this manufacturing technique, our piles can withstand higher torque capacities, which allows our clients to install smaller and less expensive piles, while at the same time achieving the capacities of our competitors’ larger diameter piles,” Dungan added.
