Danbro Installers Are No Turkeys… or Are They?
According to the Audubon Society, “Benjamin Franklin would have preferred to have the Wild Turkey, not the Bald Eagle, chosen as the national symbol of the United States. Although the barnyard variety is a rather stupid creature (leading to the insulting tone of the term 'turkey'), the original wild form is an intelligent, resourceful, wary and magnificent bird. Wild Turkeys usually get around by walking or running, but they can fly strongly, and they typically roost overnight in tall trees.” Click to See Audubon Wild Turkey Field Guide
In a January 1784 letter to his daughter, Sarah Bache, Franklin explained, “… in Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America. Eagles have been found in all Countries, but the Turkey was peculiar to ours. The first of the Species seen in Europe being brought to France by the Jesuits from Canada. He is besides, tho' a little vain and silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on.” Click to See Excerpt From Franklin Letter to his Daughter
On Thanksgiving Day, an official holiday since 1939, eating turkey while counting our blessings became the order of the day. The history of thanksgiving is a little sketchy, beginning in 1621 (maybe) and celebrated periodically (regionally) throughout our history. Click to See Thanksgiving History Trivia.
Professionally, Danbro celebrates our steel supplier, IDEAL, who makes an excellent product, with lots of helical options and who endeavors to provide competitive advantages to help our installers win jobs. Personally speaking, they are people of great integrity, congenial, and customer-focused. Wonderful to work with. However, a superior product can only get you so far. That is why we at Danbro are enormously thankful for our installer network of hard working, resourceful, and highly professional contractors. Many of their exploits have been heralded in past articles of Helical Pile World. It is their on-site execution that keeps Engineers, Architects, GCs, and owners coming back.
Like the wild turkey, our supplier and installers are talented, ingenious, resourceful, and industrious. On this Thanksgiving and every day, we are very thankful for our professional and personal relationships with these outstanding organizations and all-around fine people. Happy Helical Thanksgiving to our extended Danbro family and all who labor in the helical pile world!
